Experience the thrill of an underground trek in the vast Canadian Shield’s largest cave. With ice stalactites and stalagmites in winter and geology which is accessible to everyone, the cave holds many surprises and discoveries. Its history is littered with astonishing anecdotes and mysteries.

If you’ve never ventured underground before, please be aware that the cave’s temperature is a constant 4°C (the temperature inside a fridge). Warm clothing should therefore be worn, even in summer.

We supply a helmet with a headlamp. Just like a real explorer, you’ll be able to follow the guide and make the most of the visit.

During this voyage to the heart of the Canadian Shield you’ll learn about more than 20,000 years of history. Not only that, but you’ll find out about speleology – the study and science of cave exploration.

You’ll enter through the Time Tunnel and discover the Music Room and the Rain Room. Further on, there’s the Rat Room and the Lyse Gallery (The Lyse Gallery is where the bats hibernate). Ask the guide to point out the Night Lake and the Siphon (The Siphon which is called the Night Lake). As you move towards the Dream Gallery, the bravest among you will have the opportunity to crawl through the tiny Ant Passage.

During your visit you’ll experience total darkness, and will then understand what a surprise Joseph-Charles Dubois had when he fell into the cave while hunting. He was the cave’s discoverer in 1865.
